I disagree with your statement since there are doctors in other countries who do use herbal medicine today including China, Asia, and many other countries with success. Some countries combine treatments both holistic and standard medicine. I have used herbs for 40 some years to control a genetic leg issue of phlebitis. I have never had to use drugs and or had to see a doctor to work with it. I use Hawthorne, cayenne and horse chestnut, and they work every time. I do think that the majority of people and doctors do not have the expertise to use herbal medicine properly. I am 74 and am on no prescriptions. I have used herbs to get my health back from Lyme disease. I have used herbs to help bring my memory back after two concussions and the effects of diagnosed Lyme disease. If you look up a drug, there are various side effects with each one. The side effects increase when you are taking several drugs as most are. Each person has an individual reaction to a drug. They may have just one side effect or a number of them. Drugs are made often in China where the quality of drugs becomes an issue. There are drug recalls constantly because of long term side effects that do not show up until after the drug companies have made billions. How many deaths are there with OTC drugs? Herbs do have problems with their manufacture. So do drugs. You have to adjust drugs as well as you treat a patient. You may have to adjust up or down a prescription for each individual. If drugs are the answer why in America is our health worse than in many other countries. Doctors will not suggest herbs even if they have no option for the patient other than to go home and get their affairs in order. Doctors for the most part here in the US have one program...chemo, radiation, surgery and drugs.
