How to Use Frankincense Oil and Salve for Skin Problems and Arthritis.
How To Use Frankincense oil and salve for many different kinds of skin and pain issues.
Frankincense is one oil I have never been without. I have it on hand in both salve and essential oil forms. I add 3-5 drops of Frankincense oil into a carrier oil such as moringa oil or coconut oil, first. I then massage Frankincense oil into the outside skin of my jaw if I have swollen lymph nodes in my jaw or neck. I also massage it into the back of my head and neck for swollen glands as well.
Do you develop rashes underneath your breast or underarm areas?
Then Frankincense salve really saves the day and prevents the rashes as well. I have found that if I wear pure cotton tops and bras, there is less agitation and rashes. I am very sensitive to spandex and other synthetic materials.
Frankincense is anti-inflammatory,
Frankincense contains, among other properties, boswellic acids that reduce inflammation and protect cartilage, which helps patients with arthritis, including osteoarthritis and knee joint pain. It is used by many to improve their ability to move and walk. Gently massage the oil or salve into the joint for pain relief.
Frankincense added to your evening bath soak is quite relaxing and may ease arthritis pain as well.
Skin Rashes or other Rashes
Try Frankincense salve on your rash. It does not work on every rash, but I have had it work on most of them unless it is a staph or strep rash, which usually needs oregano oil instead.
Frankincense oil and Cancer research
Excerpt from Frankincense and Cancer below:
“Investigations over the last twenty years or so have confirmed frankincense’s anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties, two elements that are vital for healing cancer. In a study with mice published in the journal Phytotherapy Research in 2011, researchers administered 1-10 mg of frankincense orally, which stimulated the immune system by increasing white blood cell count, the body’s primary defense mechanism against infection and disease. This, in turn, lowered inflammation.
Other studies have discovered the healing properties of boswellia serrata when it comes to prostate, breast and colon cancer. Frankincense contains a cancer-killing substance called acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (or AKBA, for short), which is found in the gum resin of the tree.
Researchers at England’s University of Leicester, with funding from the government of Oman, tested AKBA’s efficacy on ovarian cancer; this kind of cancer can be difficult to diagnose as well as to treat. Their findings, published in 2013, concluded that this ancient oil proved more effective than chemo at hunting out hiding tumor cells, even in the last stages of ovarian cancer.
“What has been most surprising is that the cells we have tested which are resistant to chemotherapy have shown to be more sensitive to this compound, suggesting frankincense may indeed be able to help overcome drug resistance, and lead to an improved survival rate for patients with late-stage ovarian cancer,” said Dr. Mark Evans of the University’s Department of Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine.”

Precautions
Always try a patch test on your skin before using any essential oil to make sure you do not have a sensitivity or allergy to that oil. After applying the patch test, wait 24 hours to test your reaction. Essential oils are best used diluted with a carrier oil such as coconut oil.
Do not use Frankincense oil on pets, unless you check with a vet first. Some oils can be lethal used on cats and dogs or in diffusers.
If you are pregnant, consult your doctor before using essential oils.
If you are taking blood-clotting medicines or chemo, check with your doctor before taking Frankincense.
